Mohammed and the religions of 500A.D.

It is seldom considered that at the time of the Prophet Mohammed's illumination, there were many, many religions in that part of the world. His message to the people reduced the confusion and brought on Monotheism, did away with idolatry, which is difficult for man to understand, because man looks for ways to understand the abstract facets of an Infinite Creator. Neoplatonism, Christianity, Mithraism, Zoroastrianism, Gnosticism, Hebrew, etc. all were converging in 500 A.D. The choices were many and confusion/illumination great. Here we are 1500 years after that Prophet lived and we see remarkable similarities to the situation Christianity was in 1500 years after the Messiah, who by the way is recognized by the Koran, just not the Trinity, which is often debated anyway.
