The Pope Warns Of Financial Immorality

The Pope has reminded the flock that there is a tie between financial doings and morality. How convenient it has been for us to invest in companies whose products application results in error, with no consideration that there may be Judgement rendered against due to that investment. The implication that social, financial, and environmental damage associated with profit has a moral aspect is obvious to the thinking man, but, oh how it rankles those who consider the invisible hand somehow beyond the Law. Freemasons ought be concerned that the bridegroomsmen of the church should be out in front of us in applications of morality, that would be a shame. From the encyclical, released before the G8 summitBenedict made it clear he had great reservations about a totally free market. "The conviction that the economy must be autonomous, that it must be shielded from 'influences' of a moral character, has led man to abuse the economic process in a thoroughly destructive way," he said.
