As A Man Thinketh

Until thought is linked with purpose there is no intelligent accomplishment. With the majority the bark of thought is allowed to "drift" upon the ocean of life. Aimlessness is a vice, and such drifting must not continue for him who would steer clear of catstrophe and destruction. This a bit from the little gem of a book by James Allen. Our fraternity is full of men with definite purpose who work toward a goal for our common humanity. Perhaps this common purpose is one reason we persist.

Was James Allen a Freemason?

I don't know if this man was a freemason but I do know that he was not a servant of the Lord. Like all "great men" of the world, he took from the bible only that which served his purpose while simultaneously denying the power thereof. He places the Lord of Glory....the Lord Jesus Christ on par with Buddha, Confuscious and the like. He was indeed a "spiritual man" but what spirit? For it is certain that it was not the Holy Spirit that moved his pen to declare God manifest in the flesh on equal footing with idols and blasphemers. His books are the books of "self-help" and though there is a modicum of truth (just as there is a modicum of truth in all of Satans' works or else he would deceive no one) in his writings, it does not make HIM true.

Man is a sinner. What's more he is a depraved and wicked sinner possessed of a will that is opposed to all that is godly. Mr. Allen says that he can, by the exercise of "right thoughts" improve himself. The bible, the Authorized King James 1611 says something entirely different however. It says that "all our works are as filthy rags". Man can think thoughts that he believes are right in his own mind, but if those thoughts are contrary to the Word of God (which they always are) then man will not improve one iota and will only become more clever in his evil.

I cannot say that Mr. Allen was a freemason. But I do know that his writings are contrary to the word of God, and are RECOMMENDED BY FREEMASONS TO FREEMASONS.

That's all the evidence I need.
