Two paths in opposition, the Choice must be made, dedication to principle, one must be abandoned. The path of spiritual advancement is diametrically opposed to the path of material pleasures. The rough ashlar partakes in pleasures of our lower nature. The perfect ashlar reflects the squared off efforts of mindful living, reflecting the conquering of mental processes, and service to others, it is the culmination leading to the great way. Osiris sits in judgement, in the book of the dead, declaring the karmic judgment upon the soul, X or arms crossed declaring the choice, in hand the flail and the crook, with one the flock is lead and with the other the grain is separated. All will evolve, the ankh, spirit enlivening matter.
